The barristers at Ten Old Square provide a bespoke service. The clerks negotiate and set our fees and are usually the first port of call for anyone instructing a barrister in Chambers.

Private Fees
Our fees reflect the highly specialist nature of the work we do and are calculated by our clerks according to the complexity, urgency and importance of the work undertaken and the seniority, standing and experience of the barrister instructed.

Our clerks have considerable experience in assessing and negotiating barristers' fees and they are accustomed to liaising closely with solicitors (and other professionals) to ensure that the appropriate fees are charged.

Given their knowledge of the “market” and the skills of the barristers in Chambers its generally possible for our clerks to provide accurate estimates of the likely cost of instructing a barrister. This is very useful for solicitors who need to provide precise costs estimates to their clients, insurers or other case funders.

Conditional Fee Agreements (CFAs)
CFAs (also known as "no win - no fee" agreements) are becoming more commonplace for some categories of Chancery work. Whilst the scope remains limited, our clerks will consider a request to accept instructions under a CFA and, if accepted, they will provide a draft CFA for consideration.

Public Funding (Legal Aid)
Public Funding may be available to qualifying persons for some of the work we do. You should discuss this with your own solicitor or log onto the Legal Services Commission’s own website for details on whether public finding is available.

The Bar Pro Bono Unit (BPBU)
Ten Old Square has been an active supporter of the BPBU for many years and (through the Unit) provides barristers to those individuals who would otherwise be precluded from advice or representation in the Courts. For more information about the BPBU please click here.

Public Access (Direct Access)
The barristers at Ten Old Square do not accept Public Access work.
