Gideon was called to the Bar in 2007 and started at Ten Old Square in October 2010 following the successful completion of his pupillage.

He previously lectured Land Law and Personal Property and tutored Trusts and Equity at the University of Bristol from 2007 until 2009.

He is developing a practice covering a broad range of chancery and commercial work, including litigation, contentious and non-contentious drafting and advisory work. Recent work includes:

Commercial
Sachdev v Fair Isaac International Limited [2011] EWHC 547 (QB): Gideon appeared on behalf of a successful claimant in the Queen’s Bench Division (Birmingham District Registry) in respect of applications for the substitution of the claimant and summary judgment and resisting the Defendant’s application for summary judgment. The Defendant has been given leave to appeal and Gideon will be appearing as sole counsel on behalf of the claimant in the Court of Appeal.

Gideon recently appeared in a trial of a preliminary issue involving the construction of a commercial agreement involving the sale of a dental practice. 

Property
Gideon is frequently instructed to provide advice and appear in court in all areas of residential and commercial property including: 
– Service Charge disputes
– Disclaimed Property 
– The enforcement of guarantees under commercial leases
– Tenants’ rights of first refusal 
– The enforcement of mortgagees’ charges
– Leasehold enfranchisement
– Disrepair and dilapidation claims 
– Lease renewal applications

Private Client 
Gideon recently appeared in the Principal Registry of Family Division (Probate) in a matter concerning the estate of the fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

He has recently provided advice on the following matters:

– Payments into court involving Administrators and Trustees of Trusts and Estates
– The construction of Wills and Trust Deeds in respect of clauses concerned with the payment of foreign taxes

Partnership 
Gideon was instructed to advise a firm of solicitors in respect of a partnership dispute which was in the process of entering arbitration.

Eaton v Caulfield & Others [2011] All ER (D) 63 (Feb): Gideon assisted Jeremy Callman and was actively involved in all areas of this dispute which concerned issues relating to the terms of an LLP agreement and a petition pursuant to section 994 of the Companies Act 2006.

Gideon is a member of the Chancery Bar Association and the Property Bar Association.

His interests include the cinema and cycling.
