Gregory Hill was called to the Bar in 1972 after studying at
Exeter College, Oxford, where he obtained first class degrees in Jurisprudence and in the BCL. He taught part-time at Exeter College from 1972 to 1977.

He was a Hardwick and Kennedy Scholar of Lincoln's Inn.

He has a mixed Chancery practice, covering property law, including land law, conveyancing and land registration; secured lending, including documentation, priorities and enforcement; administration, receivership and insolvency and related aspects of company law; landlord and tenant; trusts, wills and probate.

He has contributed to Butterworths Encyclopædia of Banking Law since 1982, editing the sections on mortgage and debenture securities; he is co-author of Butterworths New Law Guide to The Land Registration Act 2002; and he has contributed material on mortgages and debentures to Banking Law Guide, LexisNexis Butterworths, 2006.

He is a member of the Chancery Bar Association, the Property Bar Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

He has been one of the Conveyancing Counsel of the Court since October 2007.
