A “perennial classic” Inheritance Act claims by Sidney Ross
16th Oct 2018
It is just over a year since the publication of Inheritance Act Claims (Sweet and Maxwell, 2017, 4th Edn), Sidney Ross’ “indispensable guide”, which has been in print in its various forms for a quarter of a century.
It has been favourably received by both Chancery and family practitioners and specific features which have excited particular approval include:
- A section titled “To do or not to do” of which it is said that it “should help keep practitioners out of trouble with both their clients and their insurers” (TEL & TJ, February 2018) and is “required reading” (Family Matters – Winter 2017).
- The extensive commentary on the case of Ilott v Mitson
- Appendix 4 containing the comprehensive questionnaires for completion by personal representatives and prospective claimants
- Appendix 6 consisting of case summaries of all known cases decided under the 1975 Act including many which are unreported
On a more general level, reviewers have commented on the book’s “charm and easy readability”; its “exceptional value” and that it is “authoritative”, “comprehensive and well researched” and a “must have for any practitioner”.
