This week, James Kirby appeared in the Supreme Court, acting for HMRC in HMRC v HFFX LLP. This is an income tax appeal in which around £22.5m is at stake. James was led by Rupert Baldry KC and Thomas Chacko, both of Pump Court Tax Chambers, and addressed the court on one of the three tax charges in issue (Sales of Occupation Income). The appeal is long-running, and James has been involved since he was a pupil in Chambers seven years ago. The Justices have reserved judgment.
