Lara joined Chambers as a tenant in October 2024, following the successful completion of her pupillage. During pupillage, Lara worked on cases across chambers’ core areas of practice and was supervised by Georgia Bedworth, Richard Dew, Jeremy Callman and James MacDougald.

Lara spent the first six months of her practice seconded to the private client team of a tier 1 London law firm, where she worked on complex trusts and tax matters for HNW and UHNW clients.

Lara accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ main practice areas, including Contentious Trusts and Estates, Private Client (Non-Contentious), Offshore, Partnerships and LLPs, Insolvency and Tax.

Prior to pupillage, Lara was an in-house advocate at DAC Beachcroft. In that role, she undertook regular court advocacy in insurance-related disputes (motor, property) and was involved in commercial arbitration.

Expertise

Lara has advised in a range of complex, high-value non-contentious private client matters, including those involving offshore trusts and PTCs (Jersey, Guernsey). Her experience includes:

  • Drafting complex trust instruments, including those which involve the operation of multiple protector committees.
  • Drafting and advising on the interpretation and validity of wills, codicils and trust instruments.
  • Advising in matters involving cross-border succession and asset protection elements.

Lara advises on all aspects of trusts and estate disputes, including:

  • Disputes over the construction of wills, codicils and trust instruments.
  • Disputes over wills and probate claims, including Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims.

Lara has advised clients in a range of tax matters, in particular dealing with the implications of the 2024 Budget. Her experience includes advising on domicile issues, APR/BPR, TOAA and GWR.

Lara has been involved in matters with clients in a range of professions and industries, including legal and medical professionals and those in the financial services industry. Her experience in this area includes:

  • Reviewing partnership and LLP instruments such as members’ agreements, deeds and resolutions.
  • Expulsion and retirement
  • Construction of restrictive covenants
