Ten Old Square recognised in 2019 ‘Top 20 Cases’

30th Jan 2019

Ten Old Square is pleased that members of chambers have been recognised by the Lawyer Magazine as advising on one of the ‘Top 20’ cases in 2019.

Ten Old Square’s Eason Rajah KC, Leon Pickering and Bryony Robinson are instructed by Withers’ partner Paul Hewitt to represent HEH 8th Nizam of Hyderabad’s interest in the matter of High Commissioner for Pakistan in the UK v NatWest Bank PLC. These proceedings concern the sum of £1 million transferred in 1948 from a bank account owned by HEH 7th Nizam of Hyderabad into a bank account in the name of the then High Commissioner of Pakistan. The fund has been subject to a legal stalemate for the past seven decades, with Pakistan, India, HEH 8th Nizam of Hyderabad and Prince Muffakham Jah all claiming to be entitled.   The dispute is set to be resolved this summer, with a trial date in June 2019 before Marcus Smith J in the Business and Property Courts.
